There's much to see here. So, take your time, look around, all the pictures on this site are my customers. You will learn all there is to know about Gail and working with her. I hope you enjoy this site.
I am a professional Seamstress and Stylist with over 30 years experience in the women's special occasion business. My resume includes managing the bridal salon at Neiman Marcus and creating a bridal headpiece company that sold to over 200 bridal stores nationwide including Saks, Marshall Fields and Neiman Marcus. I also owned a Special Occasion boutique that specialized in Mother of the Bride dresses.
For the last 7 years I have been using my design and sewing skills to alter dresses for weddings becoming the premier wedding gown seamstress in the Chicagoland area and suburbs. Using the knowledge I gained with my Interior Design degree I not only perfect the fit of gowns but I go a step beyond by stylizing your entire look. Adding headpieces, veils, jewelry and advising on hairstyles and footwear, I will help you from head to toe.
I have been sewing since I was 5 years old. My Mother would make matching outfits for my sister and I in the 60's. My grandmother meticulously made doll clothes for us. I followed by example. Once I started I had the pedal to the medal ever since.
My customers are amazing women and I am blessed to become a part of their big day. I am so lucky to be doing something that I love and meeting wonderful people while I'm doing it.
The picture to the left is me, as Mother of the Groom with my two handsome sons.
The following pictures are examples of the special things I can do.
I added all this lace onto the strapless dress, she loved it
I added appliques to increase bust coverage so a bra could be worn
Sheer sleeves with lace appliques are very popular
Many Mothers want their arms covered so if you order extra fabric we can add a sleeve like this !
Contact Gail ASAP to get your name on the calendar and book your first appointment. Summer and Fall are the busiest times and appointment book quickly. Ideally we will begin 3 months before the wedding but there are many exceptions. When you book your appointment Gail will review the things you will need for your first meeting. It is best to have the shoes you will be wearing on the wedding day, as well as any undergarments. It is also fun to have any jewelry, headpieces or veils to put the entire look together while you have your dress on.
On your first fitting we will get to know each other and discuss the results you are looking for. We will review your undergarment and shoe situation. Then Gail will pin your dress to give you a better idea of what your changes will look like. In addition , Gail will make a drawing with measurements to keep a good record of this meeting. We also will make our appointment for the second fitting.
On the second fitting all the work discussed on the first fitting will be completed. After these changes have been made, it is likely that it has caused the need for some other things to be corrected. We step back and take a look to see if another nip or tuck should be taken. The main focus of this meeting is to make sure the length is working so we can begin the bustle. Your dress will dictate which bustle is to be used. We can pin it up to give you the choice. Most of the time there is one that will be an obvious choice.
Your 3rd fitting we will be looking for a big thumbs up on the fitting of your dress and focus on the bustle. This fitting Gail will review and teach you to have confidence to achieve a beautiful and fast bustle the day of the wedding.
When you pick up your dress and veil, they will be pressed and ready to wear down the isle. Gail will give a few last minute helpful hints on how to hang and travel with the gown. After final payment is made, you ready to say I DO.
Actual prices can not be given without seeing you in your dress, there are too many variations on garments and bodies to give actual pricing before an in person evaluation. However, it is perfectly understandable that many times a dollar estimate is needed for budget purposes. The following info shoud provide a good figure for your budget.
This price is for standard alterations which include shoulders, bodice, bust, sides, hem and bustle. All dresses are pressed and given to you ready to wear. The price variation is based on the weight and style of the dress, obviously the heavier and more complex, the more it will cost.
For Brides that want to add sleeves, shoulder, back and or build up the bodice. Modify the shape of their skirt, or train. Anything that changes the original dress style. Add the price of your changes to the standard alteration prices.
This price varies by the amount of work needed, just a hem can be $50 on a simple 2 layer dress, however the cost goes up with more layers and the complexity of the layers and the fabric. Other common alterations added are straps, shoulders, bust and bodices. Your dress will be pressed and given to you ready to wear.
same as bridesmaids dresses
